Theme park Walibi Holland is excited to welcome visitors this summer, even if they are dressed in EK-shirts.
Usually, individuals wearing clothing representing rival sports clubs may be denied entry at the theme park.
However, in light of the European Football Championship, Walibi is making an exception for Oranje shirts.
The official rule, which typically prohibits individuals in sports club attire, will not apply to fans wishing to support the Dutch national team or other European teams. A spokesperson for the park confirmed this in a conversation with Looopings.
The rule against sports clothing was previously implemented to prevent conflicts between aggressive football fans and is now permanently included in the park’s regulations.
In practice, staff will mainly intervene with football shirts from clubs known for risks.
Clubkleding van verschillende sporten zoals hockey, volleybal of jeu-de-boules vormt geen enkel probleem voor bezoekers van het park.
Zelfs kleding van Formule 1-teams wordt toegestaan bij een bezoek aan het park; deze regels zijn bedoeld om eventuele discussies te vermijden.
Tijdens het Europees kampioenschap kunnen bezoekers van Walibi de wedstrijden volgen in het American Café, de sportsbar in parkdeel Main Street, tijdens de openingstijden.
Het EK duurt tot en met zondag 14 juli, met Nederland in actie op vrijdag 21 en dinsdag 25 juni.
